26MWp Solar PV (Phase I) in Nkhotakota, Malawi

26MWp Solar PV (Phase I) in Nkhotakota, Malawi

Catalyst Energy assisted its client Serengeti Energy to close both a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and an Implementation Agreement (IA) with the Gov’t of Malawi that led to financial close for $50M in funding from US Development Finance Corporation (DFC) to allow the project to achieve Financial Close. The project is currently operational and producing electricity for the national grid of Malawi. Project Development & Construction Cost: Approx. $40M. Engagement: 36 months to date, ongoing.

40MW Gas Power (SAPP) in Beluluane, Mozambique

40MW Gas Power (SAPP) in Beluluane, Mozambique

Catalyst Energy Principals successfully identified a suitable inter-connection site for a 40MW temporary gas plant that allowed client Aggreko to export power to South Africa via the EDM network. The client had an existing PPA with a major south African utility and was under extreme time pressure to find a suitable site and implement the project or it would have incurred massive penalties. Project Development & Construction Cost: ~ $30M. Engagement:9 months.

18MW Emergency Diesel Power in Nacala, Mozambique

18MW Emergency Diesel Power in Nacala, Mozambique

Mozambique’s electric utility had experienced outages in northern corridor due to heavy weather having caused the collapse of various towers and leaving Nacala without power. Catalyst Energy Principals were involved in successfully negotiating an emergency 18MW solution which saw the utilization of temporary power provider Aggreko’s diesel generators. Project Development & Construction Cost: ~ $5M. Engagement:3 months.
